Telling time in Spanish
When asking and answering what time it is, we do the following:
¿Qué hora es?
Es la una (for one).
Son las cinco / las siete / las once, etc. (for any other hour).
The easiest way to tell time is to say:
Son las X y Y (where X = hour, Y = minutes).
Examples
9:17 Son las nueve y diecisiete.
3:35 Son las tres y treinta y cinco.
For half and quarter we have the option of saying media and cuarto respectively:
2:30 Son las dos y media.
7:15 Son las siete y cuarto.
We don't use am or pm. We indicate the time of day using expressions with the preposition de: las tres de la tarde, las ocho de la noche, etc.

Spaced repetition
Cramming works for tomorrow's test but not for long-term retention. Spreading your study sessions out over days and weeks is far more effective than covering everything in one sitting.
