I have really enjoyed taking Spanish at Berges. I previously studied Spanish many years ago, but have forgotten a lot of the grammar rules, conjugations, etc. and taking the course helped me refresh a lot of my memory. I initially only intended to take Level 2, but I enjoyed the classes so much that I continued on to Level 3 and hope to take the rest of the levels and eventually sign up for conversation classes--I really feel like Berges can help me get my Spanish to a conversational level. I will note that I also try to do Spanish practice throughout the week beyond the assigned homework from Berges, as they recommend in their reminder emails. I don't think just taking the class and doing the homework would be sufficient to gain knowledge quickly, but I think they offer a really good foundation and framework on which to build atop so you can structure your supplemental practice effectively.

I really like learning Past tense. It opened up my ability to read, write, but especially talk more. It is difficult to express yourself in the present tense only. Now, I have a larger repertoire which broadened my ability for a more extensive conversations.

I had a great experience with a Level 2 course. It was the right starting point after years of self study. The Berges method was easy to follow and a good balance of in class instruction and homework reinforcement. The course book was useful for review and to prepare for the next class, which included weekly homework. I learned enough in Level 2 to be able to construct simple descriptive sentences, discuss events, and also begin to train my ear in the way I hear Spanish spoken around me, outside class.

Level 2 built upon vocabulary introduced in Level 1, and introduced past tense verb changes. The pace was challenging in that there is new information each class, but there is also time to review and practice. The weekly homework is really helpful for me, and María always goes through the homework with us in class, which is helpful in correcting mistakes and recognizing what I need to further review.

First let me say that the test I took to decide where I should be placed in terms of classes was spot on. I was placed in the correct class. I found the text book to also cover the material that I would need. Alexandra made the lessons informative , adding little extra hints and vocabulary. She made it fun and applied the lessons to everyday life.

The Level 2 Spanish course covered a lot of topics, and helped me develop a strong foundation of using the past tense. I liked the example conversations, and the homework exercises helped reinforce our lessons. Having a small class size was also a benefit, as everyone had plenty of opportunities to practice speaking.

I would imagine everyone is tired of working remotely but the online platform actually worked well for this course, probably because we were a small group (five students). Course two felt like a significant jump from course one and at times I felt overwhelmed. It wasn't until we were reviewing at the end that it all came together for me. Additionally the pacing at times felt imbalanced in terms of how much new material was covered in one class versus others. That said the course was good on balance, subject matter was broken down well, examples and whiteboarding with our instructor was incredibly helpful and I was challenged but not discouraged. Looking forward to course three!
