The course was paced properly and the instructor was fantastic! I have taken Spanish classes in other places (in the US, Peru and Colombia) and this is by far the best experience I've had. The instruction book was clear and the teacher, Nicolas was able to break down concepts in accessible ways. The examples he gave were also very useful. I had the opportunity to take make up classes with 2 other instructors and unfortunately, they were confusing and unable to stack information. The only strong suggestion I would have for Berges Institute is to facilitate conversation practice groups among the students. Other language schools in NYC offer this for free (no teacher required but just to encourage verbal communication). I know how much this aids learning and the fact that Berges does not offer this was almost a deal breaker for me. The formal conversational course they offer is only available to those who pass level 4 but I would have appreciated the space to practice my speaking skills earlier on.

I've taken several classes with Rolando. He's a great teacher--patient, smart, energetic. He clearly loves languages and his enthusiasm is infectious. As the levels progress, they become more immersive, meaning less and less English is used. The materials are good too--straightforward without being too simplistic. I wouldn't mind more vocabulary, but at least, Rolando teaches us words in class based on whatever comes up in conversation.

I started learning Spanish in this school 9 months ago without ANY knowledge. I just finished Level 3 and already applied for level 4. Method they use is amazing and easy to follow. This level was all about imperfect tense and differences between imperfect and past tense. My teacher is Mr Rolando with whom I'm from begging of my lectures here. Amazing teacher, patient, helpfull, interesting and funny. Looking forward to finish all 5 levels as well as conversation levels. Overall amazing experience!

This level moves through dense material kind of quickly, but by the end of the class I feel like I can express myself with more variety and complexity than at the end of level 2

I truly enjoyed taking Spanish with Elena and got a lot out of the course. I had taken many (7-8) years of Spanish in high school and college (20 years ago), so this was an excellent refresher of the differences between/uses of ser y estar, el preterito y imperfecto, por y para, etc. I am looking forward to level 4.

I think the course is great and very helpful. The weekly homework and structure of the lessons provide great support for new language acquisition.

The course has been an excellent way to review verb conjugations and basic grammar. I'm happy with the progress I've made over the past few months.

I came to this class after several years not practicing Spanish and the pace and level were perfect to immerse me back into the language. I liked the teaching style and appreciated the time spent conversing... there was absolutely no judgement by the instructor or classmates. The class environment was perfect; very friendly and fun, while maintaining an educational atmosphere. Thanks so much!

Great personalized instruction due to small class sizes. Just enough homework for a working person. Wonderful staff!

Loved the class discussion, was fun rather than intimidating. Learned a ton over the course of a short time, without ever feeling overwhelmed. The book and the instructor were both great!

Materials are well laid out and, most importantly, get to the point. This is my third course at Berges and I think it is a first rate organization.

I greatly appreciated my first course at Berges Institute. This class was a review for me since I had taken 2 years of Spanish in college many moons ago. I am about to start level 4 and am impressed with how quickly this language has returned to me. There is one caveat though. I lost about 3 hours of sleep last night because I had so many Spanish phrases running through my head. I come home so pumped after my class that it is difficult to fall asleep.

Level 3 Spanish covers imperfect and simple future as well as expanding on vocabulary. It is a logical next step building on material learnt in Level 2. The pace is good and the homework exercises appropriate.

I have taken other Spanish courses in the past (this was my first at Berges), but I feel this course helped me improve and clarified some things that I really hadn't understood well in the past. I think the way the course is structured was beneficial and found it very helpful that much of the homework involved translating from English to Spanish, which we later went over in class. This not only gave us the opportunity to check our work, but afforded us the opportunity to ask questions and get clarification on how to actually express ideas correctly in Spanish. I found that this laid a good groundwork for going on to the next step of expressing ideas verbally.

I like the book and the practice exercises. I would like some more optional practice exercises. Julia gives everyone the chance to participate. I really like the way the classes are organized and build upon the prior skills taught.
