The course was great because the flexibility of the instructor allowed us to focus on current events instead of the book. I learned a ton of new vocabulary because of the interest in current issues and local politics. The atmosphere of the class with Nicolas was very comfortable, inclusive and expansive.

Edgardo is an excellent and patient instructor. I very much enjoyed his class. However, I didn’t enjoy the book associated with the class. I think the stories are much too difficult for this level.

Although I can improve my vocabulary through books, this course made me feel comfortable actually speaking the language -- my ultimate goal.

I took Basic Conversation after finishing Level 4 in order to help solidify the skills I had already learned at Berges Institute. The class was perfectly suited to this. Alejandro always had current topics for us to discuss and practice our Spanish. I felt that discussing current events was preferable to the exercises in the book, as it required us to think in the moment. Overall, highly recommend.

This class really opened me up to both think and begin to speak in Spanish. With a lively, supportive, engaging approach, Nelson gave useful assignments that helped improve conversation.

Good course and instructor. Assignments were useful and I liked the flexibility that existed: if you were not interested in any of the topics, you could find your own. Real-world issues, not just pedagogical ones.

I liked the fact that Nelson didn't slow down, because I know that native-speakers are not going to stop to accommodate me. I also like the fact that the class was small & it lived up to it's title. We conversed in Spanish for 90 minutes.

I loved the course. My Spanish has greatly improve. Before I was terrible at Spanish now I'm just mediocre.

The class often veered off into English because of political discussions. The reading material had odd subject matter for a spanish course. Also there was no progression from class to class. I hoped the vocabulary used from the previous class (words that came up that were written on the board) would be used again in the next class to strengthen the students' knowledge of new words. No time at all was spent on pronunciation.

Conversation classes are great at Berges! The collection of short stories that comes with the class is a great jumping off point because we speak about topics that might not come up otherwise. We start out with suggested topics, but quickly veer towards other things--as any good conversation does.

Great opportunity to improve Spanish-speaking skills. Would have been nice to have more diverse range of conversation topics. Enjoyed when there would be a topic presented for discussion.

I've taken basic conversation twice. The first time around the class was smaller which I preferred. It was easier to get everyone involved in the conversation and we were able to just talk about current events and our lives and have real conversations that seemed natural. The second time around they added a book that was meant to prompt our conversations. The book was good for learning new vocabulary and practicing throughout the week but the topics aren't the most interesting so having a conversation around them seemed a little forced. Overall I recommend this course to help you get comfortable speaking spanish

Great class. The most important part of learning a language is being able to communicate well with other people and this class will give you the foundation for speaking in Spanish. Rolando was a great teacher and very patient.

Overall great program, learned a lot and feel like my speaking skills improved.
