I found this conversation class incredibly helpful. We reviewed vocabulary and grammar while having interesting conversations with people from all over the world. I am starting to feel a little more comfortable listening to and understanding Spanish and I plan to re-enroll. Gloria is excellent. I like her approach to teaching, she explains concepts well and has a good sense of when and how often to make corrections.

This class is challenging but necessary for applying what is learned in the different levels. I learn as much from my compañeros as with the teacher. We have fun exercises, learn a little bit about each other, and from the topics that are assigned for conversation. There is an opportunity to speak in Spanish for longer intervals in these classes.
I wonder if these classes can include some exercises that introduce idiomatic phrases that we can practice in conversation with each other. It would help me a lot. Being able to use these kinds of phrases could help my confidence as well!

I am not sure which section this is for, but since I have already submitted an appreciative review of the Sunday at 8 am section for Basic Conversation, I'll review the Sunday at 11 am section this time. I have taken one session before with Gloria and find her an effective instructor. But she missed the first class, and I couldn't get any communication regarding the assignment for the second class. I'm relatively new to Spanish conversation and need some direction. The main reason for the low rating has nothing to do with the instruction: Two of the students in this class spend the class on their exercise treadmills, and I find this rude and distracting. So I decided to drop the class. But I wouldn't hesitate to take another class with Gloria.

Gloria is a superb teacher. She is very kind and interesting and knows how to keep the conversation lively and flowing. I was super nervous to take conversation class but I was able to overcome it because Gloria is an expert teacher.

Juan Carlos does a great job making sure that everyone gets a chance to talk. Topics are interesting. Also, I love being able to reschedule classes and knowing what countries teachers are from.

This was a very enjoyable and useful class. The instructor did a great job of engaging all the students in conversation. I feel that I was able to progress in both comprehension and speaking. Generally I prefer a more structured learning experience than this cl;ass provided, with announced topics and opportunity to prepare, but nonetheless this was a very positive experience.

I was really nervous when I started this level because I was not comfortable speaking in Spanish. I must say that this level is great start to ease into speaking the language. I like the structure of the classes in that, we are provided with topics and "temas" as talking guides but still allowed to go off topics and speak with each other about interest etc..

Very well structured program covering all levels with such an interactive approach to push the student to learn and practice.
And the teachers are all strong in their approach and quite experienced. So recommended!
It would be great if you add more languages like Arabic with different dialects based on the teacher!

The Basic Conversation class has given me a very comfortable environment to practice my Spanish-speaking skills. I enjoy the format of the course: the combination of speaking about articles in Spanish and the topic of the week offers exceptional space to practice.

I think the model that Berges has, with a monthly rate as opposed to a per-class rate, is a great feature, especially when learning a language is a long and slow process. The process does not have to be financially out-of-reach. I am taking a weekly grammar class and a weekly conversation class, so I feel like I am getting a very good value for my money, especially with the caliber of teachers that I have experienced. I wish I had found Berges sooner. If you are on the fence - I say go for it. And I suggest if you aren't happy after your first class, take another with a different teacher. Everyone has different teaching and learning styles, and you just need to find the right fit for you.

The Basic Conversation course was a fantastic way for me to get to practice what I have been learning in the other courses. Nicolás kept the conversations rolling even when there were students with different levels of conversational ability.
I was a bit nervous and apprehensive at first about taking a course that was just going to be focused on conversation but after the first class all of the nervousness I had went away.

I enjoy the basic conversation course. I have taken it a few times. While the course is designed for basic conversation, students of different levels can benefit from it. The majority of the time only Spanish is spoken, but English is used by students and instructors if needed. The instructors normally use whiteboard and chat to spell out new words or remind us of the grammar rules. The class has a good pace when all can participate. The instructors can offer topics for the day or ask the students to drive the conversation. Overall, it is a well-structured course for the beginners.

I really enjoyed this course, especially since I took it in combination with a weekly grammar course (level 3). The classes reinforced one another well. I actually have even more notes from the conversation class, as there were constantly new words and phrases classmates or Gloria used that I want to commit to memory, or uses of grammar I overheard that needed some reflection. I liked the small classes and variety of themes. I'm more motivated now to keep learning Spanish-- and it was great to hear from multiple people recently that I have noticeably improved in the last few months!

I love this class. We talk about current things or personal things, but the subject matter is interesting and we are all involved. The time goes by quickly and it seems we still have more to say, so we look forward to the next class.
