Frequently asked questions

Will this help me assist Spanish-speaking customers on the sales floor?

Yes! Once you have conversational Spanish, you'll be able to greet customers, answer questions about products, help with sizes and prices, process returns, and provide excellent customer service. The grammar foundation lets you handle unexpected situations, not just repeat scripted phrases.

I manage Spanish-speaking employees. Will conversational Spanish be enough?

Conversational fluency is the foundation for managing in any language. Once you can speak Spanish conversationally, you'll be able to give instructions, provide feedback, discuss schedules, and handle employee relations. Many managers find that even basic Spanish dramatically improves team communication.

Do you teach retail-specific phrases and terminology?

We teach conversational Spanish through grammar and sentence-building. This naturally includes retail situations like discussing products, prices, and customer service. The specific retail vocabulary becomes easier to learn once you understand how to construct Spanish sentences.

How quickly can I start using Spanish with customers and staff?

Many students can handle basic customer and employee interactions within 10-15 months of consistent study. You'll start with simple exchanges and build toward more complex retail conversations as you progress.

I have enjoyed the classes. They are structured and there is a lot of repetition which helps me to learn the language.

The programme has taken us through a logical and enjoyable way of beginners Spanish. I have enjoyed working with the group and Monica is an excellent teacher. She is very knowlegdeable, approachable and empathetic. I have tried learning via apps, but there is nothing like having someone who can explain things and answer questions.

The method is incredibly effective. I feel that I’ve retained most of the skills we learned—and we covered a lot. The classes are engaging while remaining focused and content-rich. It was well worth the time and money. The instructor, Monica Negron, is excellent.

I’ve enjoyed the class. The pace was about right. Fast enough to challenge but not so fast that I could not keep up. The instructors were knowledgeable and encouraging.

For me this class is too crowded - too much to take in, remember and find time to do homework each week. However, I am Australian and doing this in the middle of the day, so have found that challenging as it often conflicts with other things going on during the day so feel that has also impacted my enjoyment of the class. The teacher is OK but I would like less content and more opportunities to practise the "conversations" , rather than going through the theory, which I know is important but simple conversations might enforce it better than reading what's already written in the unit.

I had no idea what to expect form this course, but I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the course, the small size of the class (usually about 5 students) and the amazing instructor, Juan Carlos Alverez, who has been so encouraging and helpful. I hope to take further Spanish classes from Berges Institute.

I really enjoyed this online Spanish class. The level of difficulty is very suitable for beginners like me. It focuses on the most fundamental concepts, which makes it easy to follow and build a strong foundation. The lessons are clear, structured, and not overwhelming. I feel more confident starting my Spanish learning journey after taking this course.

I feel this class is moving very quickly for “beginner” Spanish, but Rolando makes it more fun.

Excellent course with an excellent instructor. The way the material is presented really aligns with how I think, which made retention much easier. I will definitely continue with additional levels.

This Spanish program is so well run. Because all the instructors teach the same lesson plan from week to week, I am taking the classes at a faster pace and try to take 3-4 classes each week. Thus far, I've worked with five different instructors and every one of the them have been very qualified and helpful. They are Spanish speakers who love to teach. I appreciate the order and pace of the learning and look forward to continuing through the levels and into the conversation levels. I would give this program 10 stars if there were more. I recommend it highly!
