Frequently asked questions

Yes. Conversational fluency is the foundation for business negotiations in any language. Once you can speak Spanish conversationally, you'll be able to discuss terms, coordinate logistics, and build relationships with suppliers and partners. Business relationships in Spanish-speaking countries often depend heavily on personal connection.
We teach conversational Spanish. The specialized vocabulary for shipping, customs, logistics, and international trade can be learned more easily once you have conversational fluency. Many import/export professionals supplement with industry glossaries.
For basic business conversations, most students need 10-15 months of study. For negotiation and more complex business discussions, plan for 12-24 months to reach intermediate proficiency. The timeline depends on your starting level and study consistency.
Yes! Our instructors come from various Spanish-speaking countries and naturally expose you to cultural differences during classes. Understanding business culture is essential for success in Spanish-speaking markets, and language learning is the first step toward cultural competence.

I really liked the course I took through Berges. It made me feel like I had a better base level of understanding the present tense and certain verbs we use in the language over and over again. My instructor Karen was a great teacher and was so patient with us throughout the course.

The course was appropriate for a beginner student. The content was clear and in the order of difficulty. There were homework exercises to practice after class. It focused on overall literacy in Spanish- Reading, Writing, Listening n Speaking. The pace at which content was covered was just right... never too slow or rushed. The instructor explained the content very thoroughly with practice examples. Miss Medina is super professional and has immense patience. I have enrolled in next level now... The cost of the the course is high without the Groupon and will be a factor in enrollment for the next level. The institute should rather let students use Groupon’s to encourage them to continue their learning of the new language. Last but not the least, the coordinator, Laura Rios, is extremely prompt in her communication with any queries. One suggestion would be to provide instructors direct institute emails for communication rather than always going through the coordinator. Overall a very good experience.

This course was what I'd hoped for and then some. I have difficulty learning foreign languages, but happily, this technique and this teacher suit me and I'm enrolling in Part 2. Julia is a wonderful teacher. She explains grammatical points clearly. She is patient and kind and handily involves the students in conversation with one another. I especially appreciate the points she makes about how something is said in Mexico v. in Spain or even in certain other Latin American countries. I enrolled in her course because my future extended family is Mexican and it was important to attune my ear to the Mexican dialect, so these explanations are really useful. So why four stars and not five? Three reasons: 1. There's no in-person option yet--and I understand that it's not possible yet, but being in person would ease conversation and build an esprit de corps amongst students. 2. I wish you used Zoom instead of BlueJeans. Zoom is just a better platform. Hope you'll consider changing. 3. I wish there was more written homework along with video components so that students could respond to Spanish spoken at conversational speed. But maybe that's to come in the more advanced modules. Looking forward to the past tense. Many thanks.

The course was excellent. I studied French for many years, but had no formal instruction in Spanish. I knew some words and phrases that I had learned from friends or from using apps and online self-study programs. The course pulled everything together by helping me to understand the grammar and have confidence that I was saying things correctly. I saw a huge improvement in my ability to read and understand Spanish. I also enjoyed the learning environment. Even though the course was online, I enjoyed the interaction with fellow students. I highly recommend this course.
