Yes. Our grammar-based approach teaches you to construct Spanish sentences, which means you can give instructions, explain procedures, and discuss safety matters. Once you have conversational fluency, you'll be able to communicate clearly with your crew, even if you need to occasionally look up specific trade terms.
We teach conversational Spanish through grammar and sentence-building. The specialized construction vocabulary and trade terms can be learned more easily once you have this conversational foundation. Many construction professionals supplement with industry-specific word lists.
Most students can handle basic workplace conversations within 10-15 months of regular study. You'll be able to give simple instructions, ask questions, and explain tasks. The grammar foundation we provide makes continuing to learn construction-specific vocabulary natural and intuitive.

I thought the course was great! I had taken Spanish in grade school as a child so I was starting for the basics. You learn a lot of foundational information in the class but its really up to you to practice what you’ve learned during the week so that it sticks.

It's a great course for the value! For those thinking about taking the courses from Berges Institute, just be aware that you have to commit time outside of the course to expand on what you learned in the class. You are not going to become proficient by only spending 90 minutes a week in class. Berges does a great job getting you started, but you do have to put in the work when you're not in class.

The material is presented most efficiently so you can readily understand the nuts and bolts of pronunciations, grammer, pick up vocabulary. The practice portions of the class helped solidify the information in actual speaking. Having the flexibility to use make-up lessons when schedule conflicts arise made sure I didn't fall behind. The tips in the Berges newsletter for how to get additional practice are really important to use - practicing every day is really important!

The course is packed full of material. It is a lot to get through and absorb in a 10 week class so choosing the right instructor is critical! Fortunately my instructor helped keep us on pace and reviewed homework thoroughly so we could learn and retain the knowledge.
