The level has been good. I knew bits of Spanish as I had been using online resources and Duolingo for many years. I was using the lessons to reinforce what I knew and also gain confidence speaking. I have ended up learning far more than I ever imagined.
I've still not mastered the talking completely but the confidence is improving and I'm seeing this as adding further building blocks so that I can begin speaking more coherently in time. I have learnt so much over 9 weeks and with holidays and life getting in the way the Berges method has allowed me to rearrange lessons.
I'm keen to step up to the next level to how much further I can improve my Spanish.

I've been learning with Rolando Gonzalez for 6 classes so far. And it's been really good, I'm confident in what I've learnt so far. Every class begins with discussing the homework for the previous class. And it's a highly interactive discussion with Rolando and all the students. It's been great so far, highly recommend.

I completed week 6 of the beginner's course yesterday and I am very much enjoying it. My husband and I have been visiting Spain for a month for the last two years and I wanted to try to learn Spanish so that I can speak to people in shops and restaurants, etc. The content of this course is perfect for me and the way we have been building on grammar is making the learning easier. The homework tasks are essential for consolidating the learning. Our tutor, Luana, is very knowledgeable and she keeps our lessons interesting and fun. I took the placement test and qualified for Level two but I opted to start with Level one. I felt I needed to reinforce some skills. This is an amazing class that has helped me to develop my Spanish. All the teachers are so good at teaching. I’ve had to reschedule many times during the week and it’s so easy to do that. I’m 6 weeks into it and look forward to the next 4 classes. Great classes!

She went over the homework diligently (yes, there is homework!) and gave ample opportunities to ask questions during the class. I would highly recommend the class! I’ve found this beginner’s Spanish course to be really helpful. The level is ideal for complete beginners. I’d been using Duolingo for about a year beforehand, and I’ve found this course to be a great complement to that learning. How long does it take to learn Spanish with Berges?
Most students become conversational after completing five levels (about 12-15 months of regular classes).
I've never studied Spanish before. Is this right for me?
Yes! We designed our Beginners level specifically for people with zero Spanish experience.
Will I be embarrassed in class as a beginner?
No. All Beginners students start at zero. Our instructors create a supportive environment where making mistakes is part of learning.
How is this different from Spanish apps?
We teach grammar rules first, then practice. Apps make you guess patterns. Our method is faster for adults.
Do you teach Castilian or Latin American Spanish?
Spanish is one language with regional differences (mostly accent and a handful of everyday words). We teach standard Spanish, so what you learn works wherever Spanish is spoken.
Are classes recorded?
No. Classes are live only, which protects everyone's privacy and keeps students comfortable speaking up.
How old do I need to be to enroll?
Our classes are for adults. If you're 16 or 17, you can enroll as long as a parent or legal guardian accepts our terms on your behalf.
