For a begginers course you do leave with a lot of knowledge regarding understanding Spanish. As long as you practice as much as possible you can understand a lot of conversations around you and read quite a bit of Spanish. Speaking and conjugating sentences takes a lot more practice so just keep going with level 2, you'll get there.
My instructor was Rolando Gonzalez and he is an incredible instructor reason our begginers group signed up for level 2 together.

Thank you Rolando Gonzalez! My class from last year was great, but this class was awesome!! Rolando's teaching style makes you want to learn and engage. The beginner's class was just what I needed to get started learning Spanish. The course materials are easy to understand and are wonderfully organized so that you are always building on what you already learned. I was anxious about learning a new language but this class eased me into the learning process, making it fun and challenging at the same time.

The workbook is easy to follow. Explanations are clear and concise. I suggest an index in the back of the workbook, so that topics can be found more easily for review purposes. Page numbers in the table of contents would also be helpful.
