I have used Duolingo over the years to try to learn and have picked up some decent vocab, but after taking the Level 1 class at Berges I have so much more knowledge and understand Spanish so much better. Can't wait for Level 2!

The material is similar to any you might encounter in a typical language course but the instructor(s) really were the ones to make it come alive. In the beginning, before the group and the instructor got to know each other well, a lot of time was spent going over the correct answers to the homework, which reduced the amount of time to focus ahead if homework concepts were clear with the whole group. As time progressed and the instructor got to know the group better, the homework review became more dynamic and engaging. I think this was more due to the structure of the lesson than the instructor. The book and other course material was very good and the support and flexibility from the organization was great.

The course was enjoyable because Nelson explained the language in a clear and fun way and made it relevant to my everyday life. He is very encouraging. I began to be really interested in Spanish and started trying to decipher the notices in Spanish subways and other places. Fun!
