Gloria is really patient but drives us to achieve. Having homework and going through it in class helps keep focussed. The programme is good too - I just need to practice more!

This is a "refresher" for me as I took Spanish in high school. It is helpful for getting my brain thinking about what I knew a long time ago. Able to make me feel comfortable with verb conjugations and speaking in front of peers (and the teacher-Edgardo-for correction is helpful).

This is an easy on line class that moves quickly into using the words in Spanish from the first class. I am just in the beginner class but the lessons are well planned to give a structure to the grammar and my instructor is very supportive. I am enjoying the on line class very much.

This has been an excellent class. At least for me it moves at the perfect pace. We cover a lot of material, but not so quickly that I would fall behind. I had taken a bit of spanish in middle school about 20 years ago, and having that foundation was helpful, but this class was mostly new material anyway. The teacher was very friendly and helpful, and I liked the other class members I was learning with. It's been great struggling, succeeding, and improving alongside a group.

Overall I found the structure of the introductory course to be very good. The topics and vocabulary seemed well matched. However, I do wish that the text book provided more in-class exercises that are separate from the homework exercises. More is always better when learning a language. Completing weekly homework that is a duplicate of what is done is class is not the most effective way of learning a language. Variety and repetition are the keys.

I was hesitant to take classes online but have thrilled with the Berges classes. I moved to Madrid at 56 with zero Spanish. I appreciate that this program started at the very beginning and met me where I'm at. I feel supported and encouraged. I find them to be small and much more personal than I expected. I have taken classes with several different teaches and without exception, they are positive, organized and effective. I find the program clear and supportive. I especially like the corresponding workbooks and homework assignments. I plan to continue with the program as I see it as a great value.

The Beginners class is perfect! The classes are small-size, so it allows the teacher to focus on the students one-on-one. I like how there's enough homework in-between (it forces you to study), so that you're held accountable in reviewing the answers the next class.
I highly recommend Gloria Alveal! She is very professional, knowledgeable, and patient. Whenever I reschedule a class, I always try to reschedule to another one of her classes!

I originally skipped level 1 and started with level 2 because I already had the bacis down, but since the monthly membership allows me to take any class I want, whenever I want, I decide to try some level 1 classes for extra practice and thought they were great. How long does it take to learn Spanish with this method?
Most students become conversational after completing 5 levels (about 12-15 months of regular classes).
I've never studied Spanish before. Is this right for me?
Yes! Most of our students are complete beginners. We designed our Beginners classes specifically for people with zero Spanish experience.
Will I be embarrassed in class as a beginner?
No. All Beginners students start at zero. Our teachers create a supportive environment where making mistakes is part of learning.
How is this different from Spanish apps?
We teach grammar rules first, then practice. Apps make you guess patterns. Our method is faster for adults.
