I am a beginner, and wasn't sure how I would like Zoom lessons with Spanish. I️ have truly enjoyed this learning process and fully intend to continue. The professors are great and very helpful, each one has a different style and approach to teaching. This variety makes it nice to move between professors gaining different benefits from each one. I️ have also recently discovered the Berges YouTube channel and videos and have been trying to squeeze in one or two of those a week which have been VERY helpful.

This course was excellent. As a career technical instructor, I appreciate effective course materials and talented instructors. This course had both. It is for absolute beginners but I came in with a fair amount of proficiency in Spanish. Despite my prior knowledge, Juan Carlos taught me many nuances I did not already know. He was also able to shore up some weaknesses in my basic Spanish. Now, I have even greater confidence in conversation with Spanish-speaking people.

I have recently completed Level 1 for Beginners. I am very happy with the courses so far and feel I have learned a lot. I was able to have simple conversations with other students in class using the words we had learned. I need more to be able to actually converse with friends or strangers so I have already signed up for Level 2. I am older so learning something new does not come as fast as when I was younger.

I can't believe how far I have come in just 10 weeks of Spanish class through Berges. With the small group size of each class, I'm able to ask every question that comes up, review all of my homework, and get lots of practice speaking Spanish with my classmates and professor. Speaking of professors, I can not speak highly enough of Rolando. He is engaging, clear, and has lots of ways to explain the language that help me make sense of how it's different than English. This makes Spanish feel more natural to me, as opposed to always trying to translate in my head. I'm so grateful that my friend recommended Berges to me, and I recommend it to everyone who asks about my new found linguistic skills! Don't hesitate - just commit to a class once a week and you'll be amazed at how quickly you can navigate a simple conversation with another Spanish speaker.

I am on week 6 of 10 of Spanish for Absolute Beginners (online), and I love it! We meet once a week for 1 1/2 hours. The time goes by really quickly because the class is fun! Gloria is such an amazing teacher. She calls on students in class so we all participate. At first I was nervous about this, but it forces me to practice the skills I will need to speak Spanish in real life. And she is super patient if/when you make mistakes. I highly recommend this class! It is 100% worth the cost.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to learn Spanish with this method?

Most students become conversational after completing 5 levels (about 12-15 months of regular classes).

I've never studied Spanish before. Is this right for me?

Yes! Most of our students are complete beginners. We designed our Beginners classes specifically for people with zero Spanish experience.

Will I be embarrassed in class as a beginner?

No. All Beginners students start at zero. Our teachers create a supportive environment where making mistakes is part of learning.

How is this different from Spanish apps?

We teach grammar rules first, then practice. Apps make you guess patterns. Our method is faster for adults.
