I liked the Graf Method. It was easy enough to understand as a beginner. There were only 3 other people in the class which allowed everyone to participate at a good pace. I tend to lose interest if I have to wait for 5 or 6 other people to respond to questions from the homework particularly if they are not prepared. The instructor was patient with us and stayed pretty much to the format of the material. He did not go off on tangents which can really confuse me but brought to our attention certain things that he thought were necessary for us to know that might have not been covered in the lesson.

I came into the class with decent amount of memory from 9 years of classes from middle school to high school. However, without continued practice over the 30 years since, I lost a lot. The class as helpful with reintroducing vocabulary; verb conjugation; definitives; sentence structure. I learned why sentence structure existed as opposed to how it was taught in school which was "it is what it is. that is the rule." Attending this class showed me where I have used Spanish incorrectly. Attending online during the pandemic was amazing, but didn't leave opportunity for conversations/interacting between classmates and teacher.

I enjoyed the beginners course. Before starting with Berges, I had some background in Spanish but forgot a lot of the grammar and didn't have any confidence speaking. The textbook, homework, and exercises in class were well structured and I felt like I learned a lot within the 10 weeks. I also feel more confident speaking.

This is a great course to take if you really want to begin speaking Spanish. There were many concepts taught that would allow having basic Spanish conversations immediately. The course manual was also very helpful as I still refer to it to study while taking level 2. I highly recommend this course whether you need a refresher or want to learn Spanish.

For a begginers course you do leave with a lot of knowledge regarding understanding Spanish. As long as you practice as much as possible you can understand a lot of conversations around you and read quite a bit of Spanish. Speaking and conjugating sentences takes a lot more practice so just keep going with level 2, you'll get there.
My instructor was Rolando Gonzalez and he is an incredible instructor reason our begginers group signed up for level 2 together.

The workbook is easy to follow. Explanations are clear and concise. I suggest an index in the back of the workbook, so that topics can be found more easily for review purposes. Page numbers in the table of contents would also be helpful.
