Mónica Barnkow is originally from the distant pampas of Argentina, but has been calling New York City home for over a decade. She grew up on British pop and American sitcoms, in a house with plenty of cats – and books.
She studied Humanities at the University of Buenos Aires, with a focus in language and literature. In addition, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the City College of New York.
Mónica is passionate about everything language, and has been teaching both Spanish and English, in a number of settings, for many years. She has also worked as a news reporter in Northern Manhattan and the Bronx, having written hundreds of articles on a variety of topics.
Besides being a grammar diva and a news junkie, Mónica is a fan of many sports, a talented cook, and a fitness enthusiast. She has a healthy sense of humor, and the ability to enjoy the absurdity in almost anything. She would do very well in Seinfeld trivia and has once demonstrated a few tango steps for Michael Richards - in a New York City sidewalk.
